Jerry Todd – nuove edizioni

(ah, forse vi state chiedendo cosa c’entra 741 nella foto?

[WIP] Jerry Todd and The Killer Bulbs

Last but absolutely not least, there’s another adventure game project called Jerry Todd and The Killer Bulbs (Jerry Todd e i bulbi assassini in Italian) – a project I’m really happy about because I’ll have the pleasure to work with Gianluca Gemelli, a writer I’ve met on-line years ago, thanks to our shared passion about The Three Investigators, and that I’ve followed ever since. In these last few years, he did a lot of translation/adaptation of Leo Edwards books and I simply loved them. So I’ve asked him to create an original story with the same setting, to be used as a plot for a computer game, and in just one day he wrote the short story we’re now going to adapt to be a point-and-click AND/OR a graphic text adventure (I’m still thinking about that).

BUT while I’m thinking about that, this is what I’ve done and, uh, so far I’m really happy about it :-)

This is the sketch of the game map – with Gianluca’s images

[WIP] Serum [C64]

The second project I’m working on is still a C64 game, but this time is an arcade game – a platformer, even if quite different compared to Santa’s Rats Issue. It will be a zombie game – with a multiscreen map (of an underground laboratory) full of danger AND, yup, also with a light problem .-)
This image is just my first study about this kind of effect – that anyway may change in the real game.

This project won’t be a solo one – and my partner-in-crime is Andrea Capitani – with whom I’ve worked a lot of times for mobile games.

For this project, I still don’t have an exact time plan.

[WIP] Once [C64]

Considering that at the moment I’m working on THREE different game projects I think that posting something about them could help me later on to remember when I’ve started them :-)
First of the three is Once (original title was Once They’ve Seen Us) and it’s the “full-length game” for which I’ve started to code StoryTllrC64 (my 8bit interactive fiction engine)

It’s a supernatural story – set at the very end of the 90s in Modena – that I hope to release within 30/40 days (of course, if ever…)

Cloak of Darkness [C64]

Cloak of Darkness (originally made by Roger Firth) is like a Hello World project for an Interactive Fiction engine. It’s a classic (really) short story, realized by hundred of developers using several different languages.

So it was an easy choice to use it to test the native C64 graphic text adventure I’m working on (with the hope to realize a bigger game).

You can download the game for its Itch.io page. You can also check the player C64 code on Github,

Santa’s Rats Issue (C64)

It’s Christmas Eve!

Your longest night is nearing its end when you discover that, in a small town, rats have joined forces with other animals to fill houses with dangerous presents as revenge for the traps\n\

So your task doubles: not only will you have to deliver the right presents under the Christmas trees, but you’ll have to remove the bad ones – all before morning comes.

A little new-old Xmas C64 game, by Marco Giorgini (with an original soundtrack by Andrea Capitani)

A special thanks to Eric Akeson for his priceless testing time.

This is my first C64 game. I really hope you enjoy it. If so, and if you have the time, I’ll be really happy if you help spread it around by sharing your gameplay or talking about it.

A Weekend at Villa Apate (#advjam2021)

Boulder and Troubles – Hints

https://marcogiorgini.itch.io/boulder-troubles

You’re Jim “Troubles” Raymond – back to school after two weeks in the hospital caused by a really terrible beating. Everybody tells you that your brothers (Sam “Boulder”) died during that event – but you cannot understand why they say so, considering that you talk with him every day.
Anyway, the first day with your schoolmates ended with you in detention for the whole afternoon, and you still had issues even there. So Mr. Edwards decided to separate you from the other kids locking you in classroom 101. You could have accepted that if Boulder didn’t say that you need to SAVE THE SCHOOL and you needed to do it as soon as possible.

Four Distant Daughters – Hints

Four Distant Daughters

#advjam2020

Just a few words before this help document: this game’s been done in 14 days and it’s a bit complex as interactions (four-player, with four timelines, able to exchange objects in time) – so even if I hope you won’t you MAY find problems. So please remember, before ending a timeline, to check to have not something useful for others. In doubt, use the save functionality, and try.

To read the hints, select them, so as to reveal the text (now written with the background color).
If you want, feel free to leave me a comment on game page (and to leave your vote for the game, if you play during voting period) – enjoy.

The Darkest Tree – HINTS (#1)

Where are you when the game starts?

You just arrived in a small village in the Tuscan hills in search of a missing journalist friend – who disappeared while he was looking for traces of a potential serial killer.
He is also you’re wife’s brother so you’re doubly worried about his lack of contacts.
When you were near Albero Nero (one of the last places he wrote in his notes) your car stopped, so you reached the small town on foot. An old man saw you, called the local garage to recover your car and suggested the only hotel in town. Read more »
